Welcome to the Neighborhood!

Our goal at Neighborhood Diabetes is to help you find the diabetes equipment that is best suited for your particular needs, and then to provide the education, support and convenience that make whichever products selected work best for you.  It is our mission to help make living with diabetes easier. Our strategy, which involves working with diabetic patients, healthcare providers, and insurers throughout the New England area, will help you succeed in managing your diabetes. Here’s what we can do!

1. Free Home Delivery

We deliver up to three months of supplies directly to your front door and with no delivery charge so that you never have to leave the comfort and safety of your home.  Moreover, refill orders are almost always shipped in one business day.  So your supplies will be there when you need them.

Why This Is Important: Convenience is certainly important to all of us.  But, more importantly, you don’t want weather, infirmity or inaccessibility to get in the way of managing your diabetes.  There are many things that can prevent you from getting to the pharmacy when you need supplies.  With home delivery (plus our reminder telephone calls to order refills), you will never be caught shorthanded.

2. All Brands Of All Products

We make sure that you can get any diabetes related product you need.  We carry all products (testing supplies, insulin pumps, pharmacy medications and more), and we carry all major brands.  Let us help you choose the products that are right for you.

Why This Is Important:  While there are an ever growing number of glucose meters currently available, there are differences between them.  For those who never have enough time in the day, some meters provide readings faster than others.  For those who have imperfect vision, some meters are visually easier to read than others.  Certain strips are easier to handle if your dexterity isn’t quite as good as it once was.  Even the size of the blood sample required can vary by meter.  When you further consider the complexities of which brands and products are covered by the various health plans, it can be a real advantage to have someone who is experienced in all of these issues working for you!

3. All Of The Paperwork Handled

We handle all prescriptions, including all refills (most prescriptions are good for only six months) with your physician.  Similarly, we will take care of all reimbursement paperwork and processing with your health insurance plan.

Why This Is Important:  Claim forms are never fun to fill out.  If you make a mistake, it can be difficult to correct if you don’t understand the complicated insurance reimbursement system.  Moreover, waiting for a reimbursement check can be both frustrating and tie up your cash.  We save you the time, the money and the frustration by handling it all for you.

4. In-Home Training

We will visit you in your home (or call you on the phone if not geographically viable) if you need to be trained on the mechanics of using the glucose meter you chose.  We’ll teach you how to draw blood with minimum discomfort, calibrate the meter, replace the batteries and more.  We’ll even help you to understand how the reimbursement for diabetes care works for your particular health plan, be it Medicare, Medicaid or a commercial plan.

Why This Is Important:   This is where Neighborhood Diabetes is different.  Learning to self-test the right way is essential to sustaining the practice over the long term.  If we can help you become more comfortable with the process and overcome some of the common hurdles, the result should be a better quality of life for you.  And a happier customer for us!

5. Ongoing Support

We will call you every three months both to see if you need a refill of supplies and to see if there is any further help we can provide – whether it be more training on your current glucose meter, trying a different meter, understanding your current health plan covers or just having someone knowledgeable to talk to about diabetes.

Why This Is Important:  Diabetes self-care is a marathon, not a sprint.  When you are having a tough day and don’t know where to turn, it is nice to have a friend there to help.  We want to help.  It is part of what makes us different!
